Lowland Games and Hash Camping Weekend 23rd to 25th July

Waiting on details from the organisers so meanwhile this is an advance notice to gauge interest. Please let Shirtlifter or whoever is ticking off know if this appeals to you. Once we have an idea of the numbers we'll see if we can get some block booking discount.

Camping is at Thorney Lakes Campsite, where ABO has held his Hash Cycling weekends for the last 2 years, with the Games site in the field across the road.

The programme for 2010 is not yet published but activities over recent years included this or very similar - A Barn Dance with live music and ploughman's supper on the Friday, Live dance music and disco in the Marquee on Saturday and a full programme of sporting events on the Sunday including:

The River Raft Race,

Mud Wrestling arena,

River It's a Knock Out,

Children's Games,

Bale Rolling,

Family Dog Shows, Gun Dog Scurry,

Tug of War,

Fabulous Ferret Racing

As well as "the best beer tent in the area, serving local ales and Somerset brewed cider" with live music and a good range of country fair stalls.

Admission prices for each day were £8, £5 and £5 respectively with substantial discounts for children.

We would look to setting an easy hash trail with a refreshment stop or two on the Saturday and at least enter a team for the It's a Knock Out.

The campsite is very conveniently situated just across the road from the Lowland Games site. There is a good amenities block and the pitches are in a well kept orchard environment. For more details please see http://www.thorneylakes.co.uk/
