A rough quarried area above which the mainline railway ran as shown by the red dotted track.

The stone for St Paul's Cathedral came mainly from this area.

This is a favourite area for walking and watching the waves breaking up on the rough coastline.  Please click here for a description of a wonderful walk in this area.

This rough desolate area is known as Penn's Weare which lies east of the deserted railway track which is just visible in the top left-hand corner of this picture.

The track on the right of this picture is where the railway line ran between Easton and Weymouth.

The hump is the main sewer pipe taking Easton's and Southwell's waste to Wyke Regis.

In the cliff on the left a hole has been marked by red lines. This is where a fossil tree trunk has dropped out of the cliff.

This photo was taken in 1990. The face of this rock is now covered with thick creepers and the hole left by the fossil tree is now invisible (2003).

This area is a favourite with climbers - please click here for details.

This is the site where the railway track used to pass under an old stone bridge. This was destroyed by the local quarry company in defiance of planning laws and the fact that a public right of way went over the bridge - such was the arrogance and distain with which the quarrying industry operated until very recently.

Old pictures of the railway at this point can be seen by clicking here.
